Alan M. Applegate is a Senior Member at Stoll Keenon Ogden and works in the firm’s Jeffersonville office. Before joining SKO, Alan was a Member of Applegate Fifer Pulliam, which SKO acquired in 2024.
Alan began his legal career in Houston, Texas, where he represented the Resolution Trust Corporation, packaging properties for liquidation following the savings and loan crisis. Upon returning to his hometown in Jeffersonville, Alan shifted his focus to representing banks and business clients in areas such as commercial and construction lending, commercial and residential leasing, and securing zoning and planning entitlements for development.
Alan, a licensed Indiana title producer, has extensive experience with residential and commercial title insurance policies. He represents local developers in all phases of real estate development in southern Indiana and frequently handles zoning entitlements, appearing before various zoning boards.

The team’s services cover zoning, rezoning, planning, variances, conditional uses, subdivisions and annexation. They handle acquisition, development, and disposition, as well as office, retail, warehouse, and industrial leasing for landlords and tenants. The team represents lenders and borrowers in financing real estate transactions and manages shopping centers, offices, industrial parks, and planned unit developments. They also offer local counsel assistance in multi-state transactions, construction lending documentation, construction contracts, title examinations and title insurance. Additionally, they handle real estate and commercial loan workouts, eminent domain representation, and state and local financial incentives for business expansions and developments.
