Doug is Of Counsel in Stoll Keenon Ogden’s Lexington office and has been with the firm since 1983. He is a member of the Trusts, Estates & Family Law, Equine Transactional, Tax and Arbitration & Mediation practices.
Doug has advised closely held and publicly-owned businesses on a wide range of issues affecting their operations, including corporate and individual income tax planning, acquisitions and dispositions of assets and businesses, the administrative protest of proposed tax deficiencies before the Internal Revenue Service and the Kentucky Department of Revenue, and litigation of tax cases in state and federal courts and legislative counseling. Doug regularly counsels persons engaged in the horse industry, including structuring U.S. operations of foreign nationals and defending taxpayers from challenges by the Internal Revenue Service to the use of horse-related losses under the hobby loss and passive activity loss tax rules.
